Measure 11.1 - Payment to Convert to Organic Farming Practices and Methods

This measure provides support for farmers to convert part or all of their production to organic farming practices. Support payments for conversion shall only apply for a maximum of two years following the certification “in conversion to organic” issued by the Control Authority or Control Body.  

The payment rate shall move to the maintenance rate after the end of the conversion commitment. The farmer shall immediately notify the ARPA upon his parcel obtaining certification as “organic”, so that the conversion rate shall seize to apply. Under M11.1, a parcel cannot benefit from the “in conversion” rate for more than 2 years, regardless of whether this moves onto organic status or not.

The rate of payment for M11.1 will be €1,208.55/ha for land which is in-conversion.

Applications for participating in this scheme 11.1 will be received between the 22nd of July and 16th September 2019.

Applicants are required to provide their ID card and site plans of field/s. If representing someone else, one also needs to provide a notarised power of attorney and the ID card of the representative. In case of transfer of land by inheritance, a copy of the will is required.

Applications will be received between 7.30am and 12.00pm at the ARPA Front Office at Pitkali Markets, Ta’ Qali, and in the Gozo Front Office at the Government Experimental Farm, Xewkija.
