European Union fisheries management relies on data collected, managed and supplied by Member States under the Data Collection Framework. Reliable fisheries data are needed to assess the health of fish stocks and the marine environment and to meet the European Union’s objective of ensuring sustainable fisheries by 2020 at the latest.
